Learn More About Joining Our Community
Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global challenges. With more than 7,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 369 city-based hubs in 171 countries. You can read more about our global network on the Global Shaper website, and find out what it’s really like to be a Shaper from the perspective of a San Francisco Hub Shaper.
We participate in and lead projects that address local, regional, and global social and civic challenges.
Please email maxmankin@gmail.com to get in touch and talk with current Shapers to learn more.
You should be at least 18 and under 27 as of August 15, 2021. Please be aware that Shapers graduate after 5 years of membership or at age 30, whichever comes sooner.
The Seattle hub currently has 37 active members who represent various industries and communities around the city. For bios of our current members, please check our website.
We meet as a hub twice a month to go over more formal Shaper business together, with remote options for those traveling. We request that you attend as many meetings as possible to stay informed and engaged. Being a Shaper is also about building community, so we have a full calendar of social events you can tap into as well. We encourage you to schedule your own coffee dates and happy hours with other Shapers, too! As Shapers we also work on small community impact projects, which could require anywhere from 10 to 20 hours a month - that’s up to you and the level of engagement you have capacity for at this point in time. Check out our blog posts on some of our more recent projects.
Annual dues will average $150 to provide food during meetings, cover our annual retreat, trainings, working sessions, and more. We will work to ensure these dues are not a barrier to entry for any applicants, so please do not hesitate to apply if this amount is prohibitive for you. We offer dues on a sliding scale, so if $150 does not work for you, don’t worry!
Not only are you joining an awesome community of highly motivated and compassionate people looking to give back to their city, but you will become a member of a massive network of Shapers around the world. The World Economic Forum offers many opportunities for Shapers to take advantage of trainings, attend conferences, publish articles, and inform policy at a global level. If you dream of making an impact locally or globally, this is the place for you.
Find the application here. The application includes short answer questions and one long statement. We recommend setting aside at least 45 minutes to complete it. All applications will be read by the recruiting committee and the highest quality applications will proceed to an interview. We look forward to learning about you!
